The Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) is an initiative designed to help you build yourself into the advocate you've always dreamed of being!

Sacramento PLTI offers this FREE training to 20-25 parents or caregivers who want to make a difference in their community.  Participants will learn the skills and receive the tools they need to become advocates for children, families and communities. Participation will include a retreat, 20 workshops and support to complete a community project that is important to you. 

Participants are supported in making this commitment with:

  • Free on-site childcare
  • Free on-site meals for your whole family
  • Transportation assistance as needed

What kind of CHANGES have parents made from PLTI: 

  • Initiative to Re-Implement Uniform Policy at Elementary School
  • Increase the nutritional value of school lunches and educate children on healthy lifestyles
  • Created a place for immigrant women to receive counseling and orientation for domestic violence
  • Increased parent involvement in their children's education and eventually raise educational achievement for the community
  • Reading for the Future: A Challenge for Parents to read to their children at least 15 minutes daily
