Systems Optimization and Sustainability (SOS) Committee

The First 5 Sacramento Systems Optimization and Sustainability Committee (formerly known as the Sustainability Committee) is tasked with developing a Systems Improvement and Sustainability Plan to outline ways that the Commission can act to sustain programs, services and outcomes impacting children 0 – 5 and their families. As First 5 Sacramento's funding for direct services declines, the Commission has a commitment to pursue ways to support the needs of young children and families with fewer resources.

The role of the SOS Committee is to advise the Commission on strategies and activities that build public awareness and action, affect policy change, and increase other financial resources to support sustainability.  This includes activities such as supporting and advocating for local and state policy development; systems improvement efforts; prioritizing racial equity, diversity and inclusion (REDI); parent and civic engagement; and coalition and network building in alignment with the Commission's Policy Priorities.
