    First 5 Sacramento has taken a comprehensive approach to combating dental disease among young children and increasing awareness about the importance of good oral hygiene beginning at birth:

    • Several state of art children's dental centers allow timely access to children's on Denti-Cal.  Find a children's dental center in your community.
    • County wide water fluoridation is a safe, cost effective, and proven way of preventing tooth decay. Check the map to see if your home has fluoridated water  
    • Mobile dental screenings go directly to preschools and provide teeth screenings and fluoride applications.​

    ​Why We Do It

    Baby teeth matter! Tooth decay is one of the most common diseases in infants and young children and it is preventable. It’s not only a health problem - it is a learning problem. When children are in pain they cannot learn.
